Micronutrition, personalised diet advice and made-to-measure supplements

Micronutrition studies the impact of micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, trace elements, essential fatty acids, amino acids…) on our health and looks for ways of optimising patients’ micro nutritional status.

Its principle is to improve the quality of care by giving greater consideration to dietary recommendations and personalized supplements prescribed by a healthcare professional.

It implies that above and beyond the main recommendations about diet that apply to the general population, the most effective dietary recommendations will be those that take account of the needs of each individual by observing a patient’s :

• personality in particular the type of diet and his or her personal relationship with food,

• state of health, the result of interactions between genetic predispositions and life style,

• any special needs depending on digestive capacities, activities (amount and intensity of physical activity), current disturbances (infection, inflammation, course of treatment) and current or past habits (smoking, alcohol consumption, etc).
