WHAT IS A PROBIOTIC ?

Probiotics are live microorganisms that have a beneficial effect on health.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PREBIOTIC AND A PROBIOTIC ?

Prebiotics are substances that are not digestible and that stimulate the activity of bacteria resident in the intestinal flora. Probiotics are ferments.

WHAT BENEFIT IS THERE IN INGESTING LIVE MICROORGANISMS ?

With their capacity to adhere, proliferate and their in vivo metabolic functions, live microorganisms are more effective.

HOW LONG DO PROBIOTICS SURVIVE IN THE INTESTINES ?

The length of time they survive in the intestines varies from strain to strain. It depends on their capacity to adhere to human epithelial cells. Adhesion is only temporary, as probiotics are eliminated in a few days. They need to be taken regularly to maintain their efficacy.

IN PRACTICE WHAT ARE THE PROBIOTIC SELECTION CRITERIA ?

The first criterion is the resistance of the probiotic strain when passing through the digestive tract. The second concerns the properties of each particular strain ; adhesion capacity, production of antimicrobial substances, action on the immune defences, etc. The various Lactibiane strains have been rigorously selected on the basis of these criteria.

WHICH 4 STRAINS HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR LACTIBIANE REFERENCE ?

• Lactobacillus acidophilus (LA102)
• Bifidobacterium longum (LA101)
• Lactococcus lactis (LA103)
• Streptococcus thermophilus (LA104)

LACTIBIANE CANDISIS : ARE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE INTESTINAL FLORA AND VAGINAL FLORA CONNECTED ?

There is indeed a link between improving intestinal flora and vaginal flora. Gynaecological disorders are often a consequence of a microscopic fungus from the yeast family, “Candida albicans”, affecting the mucous membranes (digestive, vaginal, etc.).

Present in the natural state in the mouth and in the digestive tract of 80% of the population, it is usually inoffensive. However under favorable conditions it can develop (pregnancy, heat, wearing over tight clothes, taking medicinal products, etc). The fungus may multiply abnormally and upset the balance of the flora which results in disorders. The probiotic strain Lactobacillus acidophilus candisis is used in Lactibiane Candisis and significantly reduces the proliferation of Candida albicans.

DOES LACTIBIANE CONTAIN GLUTEN ?

No, products in the Lactibiane range do not contain gluten.

ARE LACTIBIANE STRAINS LYOPHILIZED OR LIVE ?

They are live but have undergone lyophilisation (= desiccation) to make them stable over time.

THE RECOMMENDED DOSE ON ALL THE BOXES OF LACTIBIANE IS 1 SACHET PER DAY. BUT THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF PACKS : SACHETS OF 2.5 G AND OF 5 G. WHICH ONE SHOULD I TAKE ?

Lactibiane is presented in different doses but with the same composition. We recommend sachets of 2.5 g which are “standard” for adults or children from the age of 4 that wish to maintain an intestinal equilibrium. If there is a greater imbalance, the 5 g sachets may be recommended.

HOW LONG CAN LACTIBIANE STRAINS BE KEPT ?

The stability of the strains has been checked up to the date of minimum durability. In order to ensure the best possible conservation of the strains, Lactibiane should be stored in the fridge. If you consume Lactibiane over a short period, you can keep it at room temperature (less than or equal to 20° C).

WHAT TIME OF THE DAY SHOULD LACTIBIANE BE TAKEN ? WHY ?

It is best to take probiotics on an empty stomach, either 10 minutes before one of your meals in order to limit the amount of time they spend in the stomach.

I AM PREGNANT. CAN I TAKE LACTIBIANE ? CAN I CONTINUE WHEN I BREAST FEED ?

During pregnancy, Lactibiane is particularly recommended as it helps improve the quality of the intestinal flora in pregnant women. You can therefore take Lactibiane during your pregnancy and continue while you are breastfeeding.
